Mr Noah’s Nursery School
Ethos
Mr Noah’s offers a self-consciously Christian provision for toddlers and young children (2-5 year olds). Perhaps the greatest exponent of an explicitly spiritual approach to education and the nurture of the child is Friedrich Froebel. Froebel was the pioneer whose core ideas have emerged in the work of others such Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia. His influence is evident in the current emphasis on ‘learning through play’. Froebel’s insights are a wonderful guide and it is the Froebelian tradition that we deliberately reflect.
Our aim is to do far more than merely meet statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children are to be nurtured carefully like plants. They are offered love and care so that they are not just safe from physical harm, but have the security and well-being that makes possible their development and flourishing. The Mr Noah’s environment is peaceable and gentle, quiet and unthreatening, so that the children can think and learn.
The context in which the children develop - the soil in which they grow - is deliberately ‘godly’. We regularly recount the great stories of the Bible; children sing songs of praise and join in prayers at the meal table and at the end of the day; we share Christian values - our 3 ‘Ls’.
